September Favourites (Day 73)

This post is five days overdue but I figured it was better late than never. This month, my favourites are a little all over the map. Some of the things are natural beauty products and some of the stuff is more practical.

1. Desert Essence Organics: Spicy Vanilla Chai Body Wash

For me, this body wash is a no brainer, considering how much I love chai tea. In the shower, this product smells like you’re lathering chai tea all over your body. For some, that concept might be gross. For me, it’s delightful.

2. Novel: Half-Broke Horses, by Jeannette Walls

I am a huge fan of The Glass Castle (it’s my favourite book) so I decided to try this book by the same author. It’s not marketed as a memoir or biography but the entire book is based on her grandmother’s life. I finished it early this month and recommend it to anyone!

3. Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara

Not all of the Physician’s Formula products are natural, but apparently, this mascara is. All the beauty gurus on Facebook raved about it, so I had to try it. Turns out I love it!

4. Tom’s Naturally Dry Antiperspirant

For I while I was looking for a natural deodorant because I was paranoid of the chemicals in regular deodorant, and I read numerous studies about how they may cause cancer etc. I tried a natural deodorant that I bought off Etsy, and it didn’t work for me, so I decided to buy this guy. The only kind they had in stock was “unscented” and I was a little wary of that, as I have only used scented deodorants in the past. It works great though, and the scent thing is totally not an issue! Once your body becomes accustomed to a more natural deodorant, it works as well as any other brand.

5. Cinnamon Sticks

This is sort of a random favourite but I’ve been obsessed with putting cinnamon sticks in my tea! I remember past holidays where vats of hot apple cider were served, filled with delicious spices like cloves and cinnamon sticks. The spicy favours and aromas of fall just get me in the mood for the holidays.

  1. Slow cooking real apple juice w/ cinnamon sticks on the stove smells amazing. Doing the same with the addition of whiskey also smells great, tastes wonderful, and (as I’ve convinced myself) kills the potential cold.
P.S. speaking of fall.. I really enjoyed that music mix. And as much as I love Cat Power & Nick Drake, I think Daughter “Run” was my fav. Thanks again. (:

    • Omg that sounds so amazing! I am trying that for sure!! That’s so interesting that that is your favourite because I look up playlists to make sure that they specifically have Daughter on them, she is amazing. That song holds a lot of meaning for me. :)

      • Interesting or.. just good music taste. (; I’m an eclectic music hoarder so I’m happy to find 1 or 2 new artists to like from playlists. Was a tad dissapointed in the CP & ND tracks chosen, esp for a fall mix.

      • Yeah, some of the songs were a little weird but luckily those ones are closer to the end of the mix. But hurray for good music taste :).

  2. If you like Autumn inspired teas, try Stash’s Pumpkin Spice Tea. It’s decaf and so yum. Also, I LOVE that mascara – it’s the one I wear every day. :)
